Hakonechloa (Hakone Grass)

Back to: Grasses Gallery
Slow spreading, graceful, low-growing habit with attractive cascading form.
Performs best in moist, well-drained soils.
Does not tolerate clay, dry or poorly drained soils.
Plant close together to form a spectacular ground cover.

Eye-catching focal point, draped over rock walls, in masses under trees or in woodland gardens.
Looks best when planted with contrasting colored companions:
deep green and blue hostas (ie:'June', 'Gold Standard'), Ajuga ('Black Scallop'), Astilbe ('Fanal', 'Montgomery'), purple Heuchera ('Palace Purple'), etc.

macra 'All Gold'

  • Brighter, more upright and more vigorous than 'Aureola'
  • Slender stems create a bamboo-like effect
  • Chartreuse in full shade, brighter gold in more sun
  • Great in containers
